The town of Dunlap was formally recognized by the government on June 12, 1871. It, like so many towns in the area, has amazing culture and history as well as awesome nature and outdoor activities. That is not even mentioning local festivals, parties, etc. This is a traditional Midwestern town with a lot of character.  If you find yourself in the area, you should definitely check out Grandview Drive: two and a half miles of scenic road with a view of the Illinois River from huge portions. The U.S. president Abraham Lincoln visited and spoke 1856 but that is nothing compared to the college's most famous alumni: Ronald Reagan, who graduated in 1932. He got a degree in economics and sociology, and the school has a museum dedicated to the former student and Reagan has continued to be closely associated with the school’s legacy.
